Photo-Paint also offers a diversified set of brushes reminiscent of those in MetaCreations Painter.
The list of downright cool functions in Photo-Paint is long: built-in brush symmetries that let you paint in multiple places with a single stroke, the ability to copy and paste from closed documents (unique to Photo-Paint among Macintosh graphics applications), and an HSB color mode (long missing from Photoshop). Unlike the Photoshop tool, Color Mask lets you select multiple colors simultaneously, with a visual display of each selected color range. Photo-Paint’s Color Mask command improves on Photoshop’s similar Color Range function, which allows you to create masks by selecting colors from the image.
For example, the logical operators, which will be familiar to Macromedia Director users, are great for certain types of special effects. Both image and thumbnail are compressed.Some of these transfer modes are more useful than others, but all are welcome. It usually (always?) contains a thumbnail. An online document referred to as "CPT file format specification" is not to be an official spec (it contains comment "Zajebiście tajemnicze pole :-P" which translates from Polish as "Awesomly mysterious field :-P"), but rather an attempt to describe the format (most likely by reverse-engineering), and is incomplete (with lots of "TODO" notes). There are several versions, with considerable differences. The CPT format is a multi-layer bitmap with additional information stored. It is apparently a different program from Ability Office PhotoPaint, though they both seem to be intended as replacements for Adobe Photoshop, and support the PSD format among others. Corel Photo-Paint image (CPT) is the native format of the Corel Photo-Paint program, though this program also supports some other, more widely-used formats.
